On the afternoon of March 30, 2026, an Editorial Board Forum, “Journals · Her Perspectives—Women in Science and Publishing (WiSP 2026)”, jointly hosted by the 汤头条污料 Journal Center and Springer Nature, was held at Shengzhai on SJTU’s Xuhui Campus.

During the event, the SJTU Journal Center and Springer Nature released the Joint Initiative for Empowering Women in Scholarly Communication. The initiative focuses on key priorities such as removing career barriers, strengthening mentorship, and optimizing resource allocation. It calls on the global academic community to build a more inclusive and supportive environment where women’s contributions to knowledge creation and dissemination are fully recognized, heard, and valued.

The launch of this initiative underscores not only a visionary approach to the growing influence of women in science and technology, but also a strategic alignment with the needs of a science- and technology-centric society, ensuring that the future of science is inclusive and strategically sound. By strategic redirection of resources, the initiative aims to create pathways for women scientists to engage more actively on the global stage, while also offering institutional support necessary to address the “glass ceiling” that has long constrained women in academia. By empowering female scientists and editors, these efforts will play an important role in enhancing the international influence of China’s scientific journals and in optimizing the structure of high-level scientific talent pool.
The SJTU Journals Center has long been committed to fostering an open and inclusive scholarly ecosystem, recognizing the advancement of women in science and technology as a cornerstone to drive high-quality journal development. Through building international exchange platforms, refining the recognition and reward frameworks for women editorial board members, the Journal Center has supported many women scientists in advancing from the front lines of research to the forefront of global academic communication. These efforts also represent SJTU’s ongoing commitment to integrating gender equality with academic excellence.
Moving forward, the SJTU Journal Center will continue to strengthen collaboration with partners to accelerate the practical translation of this initiative.. These efforts will provide sustained momentum for the high-quality development of scientific journals in Shanghai and across China, as well as for building a world-class scientific workforce.
